Welcome To Justice for Lockerbie.
"Regrettably, through the conduct of the Court, disservice has been done to the important cause of international criminal justice."~ Hans Kochler, UN Observer, 2001 Lockerbie Trial.
This web site and subsequent media looks purely at the facts leading up to, and the investigation following the downing of Pan Am flight 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland. These are the facts that raise questions that need answering by the respective parties. We also fully support and actively seek a full, open public enquiry by the British and American Governments. However, we do not support, or condone conspiracies.
What sort of questions has the evidence raised? Well there are many, but here are just a few:
Why did the US, Scottish and UK Governments stop seeking co-conspirators after the conviction of Libyan Abdelbasset Al Megrahi?
Why did members of the FBI and CIA arrive in lockerbie within 3 hours of the crash and allowed to interfere with evidence?
Why does the US state that the MEBO circuit boards, which formed the key evidence to the investigation, were only sold to Libya, when they were sold to several countries including West Germany (GDR) and Syria.?
Why was the break in to the luggage area at Heathrow on the 20th December 1988 never full investigated?
Why would a professional terrorist targeting an Aircraft use a timer. Especially in winter when flights are often delayed?
and probably the biggest question of all, Why has the US Administration repeatedly blocked calls for a full public enquiry into the investigation?
These questions have been raised by facts that have come to light since the Trial and it's these questions and more that have not only fed conspiracies, but also has left many people who lost relatives on that night with a sour taste in their mouths about the findings and subsequent conviction of one man. Whether Megrahi is innocent or guilty, one man did not bring down Pan Am 103.
News
28/09/2009 - Scottish Police to re-open Lockerbie Case. Scottish Police have stated that they wanted to interview other suspects but we're blocked from doing so. They have now re-opened the case, not to look at Megrahi's guilt or innocence but to re-investigate other suspects. This comes on the back of the Scottish Criminal Cases Review Commissions (SCCRC) report which highly critised the conviction of Al Megrahi and the Police investigation in which a Senior Police officer had confessed to fabrication of evidence under instruction from the FBI.
10/10/2009 - Richard Marquis flies of to Cuckoo Land - Disgraced former FBI officer Richard Marquis who led the American attempts to find the people responsible for Lockerbie has once again put his two pence regarding the Evidence of Tony Gauci. Marquis states that the evidence Gauci gave was completely credible. This of course taking into account the fact he was paid $2million US dollars, was coached in court, changed his statement 21 times and identified the wrong suspect initially. Unfortunately, the FBI have continually lied and withheld evidence, something found by the SCCRC review of the case. Incidentally, something Marquis describes as "woefully inadequate" because they never spoke to him. Marquis clearly believes in Megrahi's guilt, that is his right but then, the FBI have never been renowned for having an open mind, even if the evidence all points to a miscarriage of justice. Perhaps what he is really worried about is the fact that a miscarriage of justice would mean their investigation was wrong! Unlike him, this web site keeps an open mind but the evidence we have seen points to the Gauci being a professional witness. The only answer is an independent enquiry so why is he so against that?
06/10/2009 - Gauci WAS an unreliable witness - A senior UK law form conducted a study of evidence given by Toni Gauci, The Maltese shop owner who identified Al Megrahi, and concluded that his evidence could not be relied upon. A full report found that he could not have safely identified Al Megrahi 2 1/2 years after the event and the photo composite bore more resemblance to other suspects. He also claimed Al Megrahi met him on a day that Al Megrahi was not even in Malta. Documents have also shown that the FBI paid $3million to Gauci and his brother and were willing to pay Gauci "unlimited" amounts of money. Given that this was one of the main pieces of evidence used to convict Al Megrahi then it clearly makes a mockery of the conviction and lends further weight to the widely held belief that the second appeal would have been successful.
05/10/2009 - Boycott Scotland Wiped from Wikipedia - After a long and often heated debate on the respected web site Wikipedia, Editors decided to delete the US campaign to Boycott Scotland from its list of articles stating it was non-notable. Whilst receiving press for a day or two the campaign, described as a "bedroom" campaign was decided to be not worthy of an article. Meanwhile another boycott scotland has appeared which shows the futility of the campaign. Boycott Scotland owners claimed to be victims of Pan Am 103 and have other victims support, despite no mention of it on the Victims of Pan Am 103 web site.
30/09/2009 - Scottish Prosecutors refuse Semtex challenge. The Lockerbie Justice Group and UN officials have asked Scottish Prosecutors to prove that an MST-13 circuit board, of the design they claim was used in the Lockerbie Bombing, would actually survive the intense heat of a Semtex Explosion as claimed by the Crown during the Trial. Specialists at Ferranti have claimed that no fragment large enough to provide identification would have survived the blast further adding weight to Ulrich Lumpert's claims that MEBO supplied the board after the airliner had been blown up. Elish Angiolini, Lord Advocate of Scotland, has refused. [Full Story at The Firm]
29/09/2009 - It's all about the money ~ One of the US victims , who is a member of Victims of Pan Am 103 relatives group, has admitted that they believe Megrahi was innocent but stated "if we come out and say this we wont get the money from Libya" ****** went onto say that she "along with many of the US families have never believed in the guilt of Al Megrahi but I [have] been forced into silence by the threat of compensation being withdrawn". She also details how in 2004 she was visited by members of the Justice Department who explained that if she spoke of her views life would be made "uncomfortable" for her as well as "getting nothing from the pot" She went on to say that she feels it's unlikely any further money will be forthcoming now he has been released so is willing to finally speak out. ****** has agreed to the recorded video conversation to appear in the production.
20/09/2009 - Scottish Law Chief denounces publishing of Lockerbie Appeal paperwork. Elish Angiolini has publicly stated that Al Megrahi should not have published his appeal paperwork saying a Court of Law is the only appropriate forum for proving guilt or innocence. This is correct, in an ideal world of course. In an ideal world Guilty people get found guilty and innocent people get acquitted, in reality however, miscarriages of justice occur daily. By Megrahi publishing the files it means we finally get to see what the Scottish Cases Review Commission found wrong with his original conviction. Could the Scottish Prosecutor's fear embarrassment? 16/09/2009 - UN General Assembly urged to launch enquiry - The UN General assembly have been urged to launch an enquiry into the Lockerbie Case. Hans Koechler, the UN official at the trial, has fully backed the request. The UK and the US have attempted to veto previous calls for an enquiry but they do not have vetoes on the General Assembly. The big question is why would the US and UK vetoed an independent enquiry? Full Story from the BBC - http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/scotland/8252246.stm
11/09/2009 - Brown under Pressure - Number 10 is under growing pressure from voters to launch a public enquiry into the conviction of Al Megrahi and the criminal investigation into the downing of Flight 103. Whilst the release of Al Megrahi was down to the Scottish Parliament, at the time of the investigation was not devolved so an in dependant enquiry would be carried out by the British Government.
